About Night Nurse
Founded by a nurse.
Who we are
Night Nurse is an RN-founded referral service that introduces families to licensed night nurses (RNs and LPNs) and newborn care specialists for overnight newborn care, anywhere in the United States. Families hire and pay their caregiver directly, and Night Nurse charges one flat placement fee, never a percentage of the caregiver's pay.
The founder
Jayson Minagawa, RN.
Night Nurse was founded by Jayson Minagawa, a registered nurse. Every caregiver application is reviewed by a registered nurse, and the screening interview that asks your questions is run by one.
How we work
Four rules we keep.
Only licensed nurses are called nurses
An RN or LPN with a current license is a night nurse. Everyone else is listed under their own title, newborn care specialist or postpartum doula. The database itself refuses a nurse title on an unlicensed profile.
One flat fee, never a percentage
$1,500 for a licensed nurse and $1,200 for a newborn care specialist, whatever the schedule. Caregivers keep 100% of their rate and pay nothing to be listed.
You choose the checks
License verification through Nursys, a background check, a drug screen, a registry search, CPR, TB and immunizations, and an interview by a registered nurse with your questions. Every result comes back to you.
Your family's details stay private
We never ask for diagnoses or medical records. The voice interview turns speech into text in your browser, and no audio is stored by us.
What we are not
A referral service, not an employer.
Night Nurse introduces families to caregivers. Families hire and pay their caregiver directly. We do not employ, schedule, supervise or pay caregivers, and we do not provide medical care. For medical questions, call your baby's doctor.
