Privacy
Your data, in plain words.
What Night Nurse collects, why, who receives it, and how to see or delete it. Updated October 2026.
From families
What a family tells us.
When you ask for a call or send a request, we keep:
- Your name, email and phone number.
- Your area: city or neighborhood, state and ZIP code.
- Your due date or your baby's birth date, and how many babies.
- The care you want: nights, hours, weeks, budget, how you plan to feed, what help you want and anything about your home you choose to tell us.
- Notes you write, and the questions you want caregivers asked.
- Your interview answers, as text.
Your due date, feeding plans, notes and interview answers can say something about your health. Washington's My Health My Data Act calls that consumer health data, and we treat it that way wherever you live. The request form asks for no diagnoses, medications or medical records, and the interview tells you not to give them.
We use all of this for one purpose: to find caregivers who fit your family, vet them, and introduce you. We do not sell any of it, and we never use your health data for advertising.
Your voice
Interview audio stays with you.
The family interview can turn your speech into text. That happens in your browser, using its own speech recognition. We never receive, upload or store the sound of your voice. Only the text you see and edit is saved.
Some browsers do their speech recognition on the browser maker's servers, so the browser may send your audio to that company (for example Google for Chrome, or Apple for Safari) under its own privacy terms. If you would rather it did not, type your answers instead. Typing works the same way.
From caregivers
What a caregiver tells us.
- Your application: name, email, phone, caregiver type, license number and state, certifications, experience, nights, rate, area and consent to a background check.
- Your listing, if you agree to one: photo, city and state, bio, specialties and hourly rate. Families see these without your name.
- Your recorded interview: the audio of each answer and its transcript, recorded only after you agree on the interview page.
We use these to check your license and experience, list you if you agree, and share your interview with a family that unlocked you, once a registered nurse has listened to it. Your last name, phone and email go to a family only after it hires you.
Who receives it
The services we use.
- Cloudflare hosts the site, stores the database, the photos and the caregiver interview recordings, checks forms for bots, and turns caregiver recordings into text with its speech recognition.
- Resend sends our email: sign-in links, confirmations and updates.
- Stripe takes payments. It receives your email and the amount, and we never see your card number.
- Anthropic writes the summary of a family's interview for our nurse, and checks a family's questions for caregivers. It receives text only, never audio, and the summary is told to leave out medical and contact details.
Each receives only what its job needs. A caregiver you unlock sees your first name, your area and the questions you want asked, and your full contact details only once you hire. We share nothing else unless the law requires it.
How long
How long we keep it.
Family interview transcripts are cleared one year after a placement, or one year after your request closes. Payment records are kept as tax law requires. Everything else stays until you ask us to delete it, which you can do at any time.
Signing in uses one cookie, which keeps you signed in for up to 14 days. We do not use advertising cookies.
Your rights
See it, delete it, change your mind.
Under Washington's My Health My Data Act, and wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what health data we hold about you, and who we shared it with.
- Delete it. We delete it from our database and storage, and ask the services above to do the same where they keep a copy. Payment records we must keep are the exception.
- Stop using it. You can withdraw your consent at any time, and we stop collecting and sharing it from then on.
Email [email protected] from the address you used with us, and say what you want. We confirm when it is done. If we turn down a request, we tell you why, and you can ask us to look at it again by replying to that email.
