How we set these numbers
Estimates, not quotes.
We start from public listings for overnight newborn care, where the US median is about $40 an hour and most ask between $35 and $50. Each city is then adjusted by its price level from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (2024 Regional Price Parities). Pay for in-home care moves more steeply than overall prices, so we checked the adjustment against Seattle listings, where most ask between $40 and $63 an hour.
Licensed nurses rarely publish private rates, so the nurse figures carry our estimate of the premium an RN or LPN license earns, about 30%. Twins add about 20% and triplets about 40%. Expect higher asks for short notice, holidays and stretches of 6 or 7 nights in a row. Your nurse's own rate is what counts, and you see it before you unlock them.
